Inclusion Australia welcomes the Commonwealth government’s review of disability employment services to improve the employment outcomes of people with disability. This is a great opportunity to develop a new system of employment support that works.
The Inclusion Australia Board today launched a campaign to increase the employment of Australians with intellectual disability — We Can Work with the Right Support.
People with intellectual disability can work when provided with evidence based support. Yet only 8% of people with intellectual disability participate in the open labour market.
Inclusion Australia is asking people with intellectual disability, their families, and supporters to sign a petition seeking a new employment support system based on evidence of what works. Please sign the petition at http://wecanwork.nationbuilder.com/
Kevin Stone, President of Inclusion Australia said, “The goal of our campaign is to help people with intellectual disability, their families, and supporters to access the best support to work in the open workforce.”
Taryn Harvey, CEO of Development Disability WA, said, “People with intellectual disability need specialist support to move from school to a job in the open labour market. We want to ensure this quality of support is available across Australia.”
