Katie Wheldon (Launceston, TAS)

I cried when I was offered a job today at the Hog’s Breath in Launceston (18, September, 2015).

I had overcome many barriers to get paid work in the open labour market. This was achieved through work experiences and one-on-one training. I learnt about work in real workplaces.

I still need ongoing support to keep learning new skills and face new challenges. And I hope the NDIS will support me to provide the support I need to keep my job.

When I was told that I had got the job I cried as I always thought that I was worthless. I want to thank my job trainer, Bill, an ex-policeman, who taught me how to do my job and shed tears of joy at my success.
